If you copy-paste an image from a CHM file to Microsoft Word, you end up with a blank rectangle in your Word document. The workaround is to paste the image to a drawing program (e.g. MSPaint), then copy-paste from the drawing program into Word. Why you need to do this two-step process?
hi
ReplyDeletei wanted to reply to this.
html files have a lot of formatting. when you copy stuff from html to other editors which do not support heavy formatting like notepad and paint, the stuff gets copied without the formatting.
however, Word can support the formatting and this formatting causes problems because Word interprets it differently.
this causes problems with pictures from chm files. however, after copying it to paint, the formatting is removed, and it can then be copied, as is, to Word.
Data can be copied to the clipboard in different formats. To test this behaviour, start clipbrd.exe and copy an image from a CHM file. Use clipbrd.exe and examine View menu. There is one copy in "DIB Bitmap" and "Bitmap".
ReplyDeletePrompted by your response, I did another experiment. Using WinWord's Edit / Paste Special, I found that "HTML Format" was selected. If I choose "Device Independent Bitmap", then the image can be pasted.
My guess is that hh.exe has put the wrong metadata ("HTML") into the clipboard and WinWord chose that as the default.
thanx for your valuable suggesions
